Thanks to hardworking volunteers under the direction of Stewardship Partners, a beautiful rain garden has been installed in front of B.F. Day. Stewardship Partners is a non-profit organization that plans and develops rain gardens sustained by rainwater run-off. With a rain garden, up to 30 percent more water is collected and filtered into the ground, rather than washing away into the sewer. Not only does this prevent harmful pollutants entering into Puget Sound, the water seeps into the ground and actually recharges the groundwater.
Here are before and after pictures. We hope you’ll stop by school some time to enjoy our lovely new garden!
