Join Seattle Parks and Recreation at the first public meeting Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Phinney Neighborhood Association and provide input on the renovation of the Woodland Park play area.

The Parks and Green Spaces Levy provides funding for planning, design and construction.  For more information please visit http://seattle.gov/parks/projects/woodland_park/playground.htm

Parks has scheduled two public meetings for this new project. At the first meeting please come prepared to talk with Park’s Landscape Architect Shwu-jen Hwang about your ideas for the play area; think about what you like about the existing play area and what could use improvement. We will also talk about the project schedule and budget. Shwu-jen Hwang designed the very popular Ercolini playground in West Seattle. At the second meeting in October, Shwu-jen Hwang will present three play area options. These will serve as a basis for discussion for the preferred schematic design. You may also fill out this brief survey. The existing play area will be open during the summer 2013, but will be closed during construction that autumn.

Again that link to the brief survey is here.

Volunteer at Red, White & Dead Zombie Walk in Fremont to helpraise money for the B.F. Day Playground

On Saturday, July 7, the Red, White and Dead Zombie walk will attempt to set a Guinness Book of World Records for a Zombie Walk. Managing, registering and lining up all these zombies requires a lot of humans. Piranha Blonde, organizers of Red, White and Dead Zombie Walk have generously offered to make a donation to the B.F. Day playground project. If we can provide volunteers to help staff the event, organizers will donate 10% of tickets sales to the B.F. Day Playground Project.

Volunteer shifts are from:
10am – 2pm
1 – 4pm
3 – 8pm

Volunteers/staff remain in regular clothes. Volunteers must be adults.

Interested individuals and/or groups should contact Jerry at vols.piranha@gmail.com

For more information on the event, visit www.redwhitedead.com and on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/pages/Red-White-and-Dead-Zombie-Walk-presented-by-ZomBcon/136074383141451

If you go to the Fremont Fair tomorrow (hours 11-6), please stop by the Fremont Rotary/BF Day Garden Booth, kitty corner from the Rocket!

We’re raising $ for the playground by asking for donations for flower starts and zoodoo, all donated; BF Day students planted and bagged.  Thank you!

Direct Drive Update and Next PTSA Meeting at Pecado Bueno

Thank you for supporting the PTSA Direct Drive!

Congratulations to Ms. Kendrick’s class! This kindergarten classroom had the highest percentage of students participating in the direct drive for school year 2011-2012. Ms. Kendrick and her class will enjoy a pizza party for all their efforts.

Room 103 had the highest participation rate, but the contest was close. We appreciate the generous response from so many to our recent direct drive plea. Our direct drive alone raised over $18,600 this school year. Receipts for donation of $50 or more will be sent out in later this month. Including other fundraising efforts this year, the PTSA has raised over $61,000 to be used to enhance our children’s learning experience at B.F. Day.

Please join us to vote on next year’s PTSA budget and how that money will be spent.
All PTSA members are invited and encouraged to attend and vote on next year’s PTSA budget.

When: Tuesday, June 12, 6:30-7:30pm (Business), 7:30 – ? (social)
Where: Pecado Bueno, 4307 Fremont Ave N
